About the project
TEMPUS project DEVCORE Development of Learning Outcomes Approach – A Way to Better Comparability, Recognition and Employability at the Labor Market is a project funded by the European Commission, coordinated by the University of Montenegro. It is aimed at defining learning outcomes at the study programmes of all the universities in Montenegro.
What are learning outcomes?
Learning outcomes include a set of abilities which express what students will know, understand and be able to do after the learning process is completed. Learning outcomes are most frequently expressed as knowledge, skills and attitudes.
Why is it important to define learning outcomes?
All three universities in Montenegro have their programmes adapted to the Bologna principles, but they do not have precisely defined learning outcomes. This means that employers in Montenegro cannot recognize the qualifications which students obtain after graduation i.e. which knowledge and skills their future employees gained during their studies. The existing diploma supplement does not provide sufficient information on this.
By introducing learning outcomes into higher education institutions the quality of programmes will be improved and work force mobility increased.
What does the project envisage?
The project envisages development of an action plan for introducing learning outcomes to higher education institutions in Montenegro, training of teachers and defining of learning outcomes, continued improvement of links between higher education institutions and the labor market.
Besides the University of Montenegro, University Mediterranean, University Donja Gorica, Employment Agency of Montenegro, Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, are also partners on the project, while EU partner universities are Arhus University from Denmark, Carinthia School of Applied Sciences from Austria, National and Kapodistrian University from Greece and WUS Austria. Project implementation will last until November 2016.
On November 7-10 2016, an impact analysis of the project was carried out by WUS Austria representatives Veronika Nitsche and Martina Handler. The aim of the analysis was to to gain a comprehensive picture about the achieved impact of the DEVCORE project in terms of capacity building for and introduction of learning outcomes in the Montenegrin higher education system.
